My name is David and my girlfriend and I have had (some sort of) small grey rabbit named Doobie for almost a year and a half now. After getting him and doing alot of research online I wished I had not gotten him from a pet store but I wouldn't trade him for anything. We had both had rabbits before but had almost no knowledge of them (at least not like we do now). A few days ago someone was advertising a rabbit for free on Craigslist and since we had been talking (ok, mostly I was talking) about getting a friend for Doob, we decided to take him to meet Sydney (we changed his name since he didn't respond to it anyway). After the initial meeting went well we decided that he would be better off with us than another set of owners like the ones he had. He spent almost all of his time in a cage, never had access to hay, and was living in a dog kennel with a slippery plastic floor (we have modified the plastic tray with packing tape and cardboard to allow aspen chips to stay in). Initially though we had though that he was female, we didn't check that well since at Doobie's age it's extremely apparent, but Sydney was only 7 mo. old. Sydney's a little skittish from the change and not being used to being around humans or other rabbits, but we think he'll come around. As nervous as he is sometimes he still will cuddle right up to you when he feels like it. Doobie on the other hand would rather lay across the room against the wall.
I'll put some pictures up soon,
David

Hi David, Doobie and Sydney!
Welcome to The Bunny Basics Forum! So nice to have you here! Thank you for being such a great bunny person. I am so glad you gave two bunnies such a wonderful home. We all went through that learning process. Unfortunately there is just so much misinformation about bunnies out there.
It may take Sydney a little time to learn to trust the new situation. But just be patient and you will be rewarded with a bunny who loves you so much. The bunnies I adopted who came from bad situations took time to warm up and let their true personalities shine. Once they do you will be amazed at the change and how they blossom when they are safe and loved.
We look forward to the pictures! If you ever have any questions please feel free to post them. We have lots of great people with years of bunny experience who are always happy to talk bunnies!

Thanks for the welcome everyone, and here's the pic I promised. I had to get the bunnies out, get a good pic, then edit it down to a decent size.

Super cute bunnies! The black and white one looks like a Hotot mix. Welcome to the forum!

We were told that he was purchased originally from a breeder and that he was purebred, but they couldn't remember what breed. I know they could be wrong but I think he's not a mix. There are also some other markings not visible in that picture. From what I just read on the hotot, the black around the eyes is the only markings they have. Doobie (from a petstore) definitely could be a mix, but there's so many breeds that look similar to him, it's hard to tell.
Here's a better pic of Syd's markings.
Thank you,
