I got a quote from a bunny vet of 425.00 for a neuter and 495.00 for a spay? Does that sound a little high considering all the online stuff claims it's only 95-250?

You can post pictures that are saved to your computer by clicking on add image to post below the box you type in.

The prices you were quoted are VERY HIGH for a spay/neuter. If you let us know what state you are in we can refer you to someone who might be able to help with a good rabbit savvy vet. You do need to be very careful when selecting a vet for a rabbit.

Here is a link to vets in Southern CA:

http://www.bunnybunch.com/vetnews2.html

If you have any questions just give Bunny Bunch a call and I am sure they can help you pick the right vet.

Hope this helps! Very Happy

Hi I'm Cathy. I am looking for a holland lops bunny. My daughter's bunny recently left us for the "carrot fields in heaven" according to my daughter Crying or Very sad But she has decided that she wants to reward her hard school work (6 A's Very Happy ) with buying another bunny. She wants lops. Any one who has a suggestion It will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cathy,

Congratulations to your daughter for doing so well in school!!! That's a tough thing for a kid and she should be commended for all her hard work. Adopting a bunny as a new friend sounds wonderful. I am so sorry that she lost her other bun but opening up your hearts to another bun is such a tremendous thing. As I'm sure you know, bunnies are lots of work but worth every second of it. They are amazing companions.

As for lops, your best bet would be to go through one of your local rabbit rescues. Lops are very popular and you will probably have many to choose from. There are lots of great websites to start your search but www.rabbit.org is a good first step. It's the House Rabbit Society and they have adoption links which you can select your state and it will lead you to rescues within your area. In addition, your local branch of the Humane Society will also have loving rabbits searching for their forever homes. There are lots of options available and it's definitely worth the time. Smile

Adopting a rabbit versus buying one in a pet store is a much better way to go as you will be giving a loving bunny a second chance at a wonderful forever home. Rescues will work with you and help you with education, training, health information, follow up questions, support, etc. and a pet store will sell you a rabbit and send you on your way. Supporting the work of rescues is the number one way to give back to the extraordinary beings rabbits are. I speak from experience having rescued four myself and each of them are, without question, all incredible, loving, funny and wonderful souls. Each had it terribly rough and were either neglected or abused and all blossomed into the most beautiful, happiest, loving buns ever.

If I can find any more rescue information, I'll post it here. Where exactly are you and I can try to narrow down the search?

Thanks a bunch!

Belle, Zeus, Taz and their mom

Thank you so much for the information. My daughter was told by me and my mom that we each would give her a $10 bill for each and every A so she has $120 coming her way. My daughter has said she wants a new bunny and she picked the lop. It isn't like I can argue with her.....it's her money now. Exclamation But I have to locate a bunny close to Jefferson, Ga. where I am.

There are a TON of lop eared rabbits needing homes in your area. This is a link to petfinder.com and to rabbits currently available in your area:

http://www.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?tmpl=&preview=&animal=Rabbit&preview=&zip=jefferson%2C+GA

Check out Gigi and Ginger (see pictures below). Both of these beauties are available from the House Rabbit Society of Northern Georgia and are two of MANY lop eared rabbits available for adoption in your area. Smile

The Humane Society of Jackson County has rabbits for adoption at 706.367.1111 or Jackson County Animal Control can also give you information at 706.367.5480.

I hope this helps and through one of these sites your daughter can find her new lop eared friend!!!! Very Happy

Welcome Everyone! Glad to have you aboard! Very Happy

If you can adopt a bunny from a rescue you are helping 2 bunnies. The bunny you are giving a home to and you open up a space at the rescue for another bunny to be saved!
